At Orangescrum, we constantly evolve based on customer feedback to make project collaboration smarter, smoother, and more controlled. One of the most recent updates to Orangescrum Cloud brings a subtle but powerful improvement — admins can now decide whether users are allowed to edit the timezone.
This gives teams the flexibility they need while maintaining control and consistency across distributed work environments.
Why We Introduced Timezone Permission Control
Until now, every user could freely change their timezone from their profile settings. While this worked well for most remote teams, some organizations raised a valid concern — inconsistent time settings could lead to mismatched task timelines, time logs, or reports, especially in tightly monitored projects.
Struggling with Missed Deadlines and Overloaded Teams?
Orangescrum helps you balance workloads, track progress, and execute projects confidently.
Admins needed more control to ensure:
- Team members in the same region follow a unified timezone.
- Reports and time logs remain consistent across departments.
- Task updates, deadlines, and activity timestamps align accurately with business hours.
To address this, we introduced a new permission setting called “Edit Timezone” under User Role Management.
This enhancement empowers admins to decide who can or cannot modify their timezone, maintaining both flexibility and administrative oversight.
How It Works
The “Edit Timezone” permission is available only for Custom User Roles (not for default roles).
Here’s how workspace owners or admins can configure it:
- Login to your Orangescrum Cloud account.
- From the left menu, navigate to User.
![]()
- On the top-right corner, click User Role Management.
![]()
- In the User Role Management settings, select the user role you want to modify.
![]()
- Under the Manage section, tick the checkbox “Edit Timezone.”

Once this is done:
- Only users belonging to that custom role can edit their timezone.
- Others will see the timezone field disabled in their profile settings.
This ensures that admins have granular control over user permissions, while still allowing flexibility for specific teams or roles when needed.
Stop juggling tools. Start delivering results.
Benefits for Remote and DistrSIGNUP_URLibuted Teams
For teams working across different time zones, time synchronization is everything. By introducing this permission, Orangescrum helps organizations strike the perfect balance between autonomy and alignment.
Here’s how this helps your team:
- Consistent Reporting: Maintain accurate time logs and reports across global teams.
- Controlled Flexibility: Let only selected roles (like contractors or project leads) manage their own timezone.
- Accurate Dashboards: Ensure all project timelines and analytics reflect true, synchronized data.
- Better Oversight: Prevent accidental time mismatches that can impact billing or performance metrics.
Whether your development team is in India and your clients are in Europe, or your marketing team works remotely across the US — this update ensures everyone’s time data stays reliable.
Coming Soon: Timelog and Userlist Enhancements
We’re not stopping here!
In our upcoming release, we’re adding Timelog and Userlist enhancements to help admins track activities, manage user roles, and monitor logged hours with even greater precision.
